Setting Expectations for Our Journey Together

Weather Contingency Plan

Embracing Adventure, Rain or Shine

At Summit Weddings & Elopements, adventure is at the heart of what we do, often leading us to breathtaking places where nature reigns supreme—sans manmade shelters. Because of this, it’s wise to always have a ‘Plan B’ in case the weather decides not to cooperate with our original plans.

I'm inspired by Vivian Greene’s philosophy: “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass… It's about learning to dance in the rain.”

This spirit is woven into every wedding I plan. If your ceremony location already includes indoor alternatives like a pavilion or gazebo, a little rain won’t dampen our day. In fact, light rains can add a touch of magic to your outdoor photos, and I have a selection of stylish umbrellas ready to enhance your experience, whether we’re strolling through historic streets or exploring a misty forest.

In the event of severe weather—something that might go beyond what umbrellas and spirit can handle—I pay close attention to updates from the National Weather Service:

  • Weather Watches: These mean conditions are ripe for severe weather. It’s a heads-up to stay informed.

  • Weather Warnings: This means severe weather is happening or imminent, and we need to take action immediately.

For any outdoor ceremonies, if a severe weather warning is issued, or a watch is announced within three hours of our start time, we will need to reschedule. Safety and comfort are paramount.

Snowy settings are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Many couples dream of a snowy backdrop for their vows, and as long as there’s no severe storm warning, and everyone is comfortable with the travel conditions (think four-wheel drive), we can proceed as planned.

I keep several dates open each month specifically for rescheduled ceremonies. If you have any concerns or are just curious about potential backup dates, please feel free to ask ahead of your event.

Photography Policy

Artistic Style and Post-Production:
At Summit Weddings & Elopements, I am dedicated to capturing the essence of your special day with a distinctive artistic flair. Each photo is carefully selected and edited to showcase the event’s unique moments and emotions. Please note that the selection of these images is based on my professional judgment and artistic interpretation. As such, the final photos are not open for rejection based on personal preferences related to styling elements such as hair, makeup, or wardrobe choices.

Digital File Management:
Upon the delivery of your photographs via a "Digital Download Link," the responsibility for the safeguarding of these images shifts to you. I strongly recommend backing up your photos immediately to ensure their preservation. It is crucial to remember that the longevity of digital media and their compatibility with future technological standards are not guaranteed. Regularly transferring your digital files to updated media platforms will help secure your cherished memories against technological obsolescence.

Cancellation Policy and Terms & Conditions

Booking and Retainer:

To secure your ceremony and preferred wedding date, a 50% non-refundable retainer is required at the time of booking. This retainer covers the upfront costs associated with reserving wedding vendors, such as photographers, florists, and caterers, many of whom require non-refundable deposits to ensure their services. This policy protects both our interests and prevents financial loss. The remaining balance of your wedding package is due on or before the day of your ceremony. External vendor fees may be due in full at time of booking.

Rescheduling Due to Emergencies:

Life can be unpredictable, and in the case of an unforeseen emergency that prevents your wedding from occurring on the scheduled date, you may reschedule your ceremony. I will make every effort to accommodate your new preferred date and reschedule the necessary services accordingly. Please note, however, that the full payment must be received before any new arrangements are finalized. $100 rescheduling fee may be applied.

Rental/Permit Fees:

If your chosen wedding location requires a rental or permit fee, and you need to reschedule, you will be responsible for paying a new rental/permit fee for the revised date and time. The original rental or permit fee will be forfeited. Please note, rental and permit fees are non-refundable and cannot be credited toward future ceremonies.

Cancellation After Rescheduling:

If circumstances require you to reschedule your ceremony and you later decide to cancel, please understand that no refunds will be issued. To secure the new date, the balance of the original contract must be paid in full.
